Assignment
The Port of Almeria, situated along the Mediterranean south-east coast of Andalusia, Spain is planning the development of a new quay, "Muelle de Poniente" (Western Quay), on the seaward side of the existing main breakwater of its commercial port. The new quay is expected to be used for container handling; expected container ships calling at the Port of Almeria range from feeders of about 150 m length to the current maximum size of 400 m.
The Port of Almeria wished to verify the considered port design with 3D scale-model tests and has commissioned Deltares | Delft Hydraulics to carry out such tests.
