Hydraulic studies for MCSL land reclamation scheme, Monaco
| Period: | 2007-2009 |

| Location: | Monaco |
| Client: | Monte Carlo Sea Land consortium |
assignment/short description
The Monaco Principality has short-listed five Design/Build/Finance/Operate teams for a large scale reclamation development in Monaco. The Monte Carlo Sea Land consortium (MCSL) is one of the five teams bidding for the project which will be located in between two ecologically sensitive areas: a coral reef at the south and a sea grass area at the north. Deltares | Delft Hydraulics was requested by MCSL to carry out hydraulic studies in order to support the tender bid of MCSL. The following hydraulic studies were performed:
- Assessment of nearshore wave and water level conditions
- Wave penetration modelling
- Evaluation of the impact of the scheme on local flow and flushing conditions
- Assesment of the influence of the land reclamation on the existing Larvotto beach
- Nautical real time simulations to evaluate impacts on an existing cruise terminal
- Assessment of wave reflection and overtopping of the Jarlan-type coastal protection structures by means of physical modelling.
