assignment/short description
Gasunie, a European gas infrastructure company, guided the installation of a new pipeline from The Netherlands to the UK. For safe installation of the pipeline at the landfall Gasunie has requested Deltares to evaluate the possible impacts of the proposed temporary construction works on the Dutch coastal defence system for the considered construction period (January to March 2006).
Specifically it is required to demonstrate whether due to the temporary landfall construction works, the so-called “dune erosion line” of the dune will shift in a landward direction. The “dune erosion line” is a position of the coast as defined in the Dutch safety guidelines.
The objective of the study was to predict the impact of temporary construction works on dune erosion and safety defence system.
