assignment/short description
The revetment of the southern bank of the river Vecht below Vechterweerd Weir has been removed over a length of 1250 m at the end of 2006.
Subsequent bank erosion has remained limited, but the question is whether erosion will also remain limited at high floods. That is why the Waterschap Salland waterboard asked Deltares, as an independent party, to carry out a mid-term evaluation of the morphological effects of the removal of bank revetment. Additionally, the waterboard asked Deltares to indicate caveats for bank revetment removal along other reaches of the Overijsselse Vecht, explaining how meandering rivers respond to partial or complete removal.
