On 28 April 2010 a Technical Advisory Service Agreement was signed by Kim, Kuen-Ho,
President of Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) and Harry Baayen, Managing Director of Deltares. K-water wants to commission Deltares for the technical advisory to the ‘Four Major Rivers Restoration Project (4MRRP). This project is supervised and managed by K-water under the framework of the overall 4MRRP.

On April 1 Dick Vethaak employed by Deltares, held his inaugural speech. Dick Vethaak has been appointed in May 2009 as special professor Ecotoxicology of delta and coastal waters at VU University, Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM), in cooperation with Deltares.
Deltares and other research institutes are working together, commissioned by the Dutch Government, to implement the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. An assessment and monitoring programme will be drawn up as well as a programme of measures.

Compensation grouting was developed to compensate for settlement during underground construction. Tubes with a diameter of 0.07 m and a length of up to 60 m are installed prior to the underground construction work together with a monitoring system.
