Flood Control 2015

Flood Control 2015 is a Dutch publicprivate collaboration in the field of crisis management during (the threat of) flooding in which Deltares participates.

Nine water specialists and experts in the field of water management, ICT and crisis management have combined their international know-how and experience for this smart flood control. In doing so, they enable decision-makers to make the best decisions more quickly. Integration is at the heart of Flood Control 2015.

Current flood protection is extremely fragmented. Weather forecasts, dike strengths, water levels, they are all assessed separately. The result is that uncertainties are added in a cumulative way.

However, the reliability of forecasts can be increased significantly by first collecting sufficient information about these uncertainties, before integrating and modelling them. The day-to-day management of water systems can also be substantially improved by using Flood Control 2015.
