Course background
Knowledge of flow behaviour, both steady and unsteady, is necessary for optimal and safe use of fluid transportation in pipeline systems. This behaviour is dependent on all system characteristics.
The system parameters, such as the pipeline profile and flow velocities, as well as the hydraulic properties of components (pumps, valves and check valves) and off-design conditions (e.g. gas pockets) play an important role.
Prior to this advanced course, Deltares Academy has also organized an introductory course on pressure transients on 23 - 24 May 2011.
Aim of the course
The general purpose of this intensive course is to provide the experts from all around the world with advanced tools and ideas for a deeper insight into pressure transients in pipeline systems. The course is based on extended experience gained by the instructors from all around the world.
The course focuses on some advanced topics concerning pressure transients. It includes lessons from practice, modelling issues, risk management, more detailed information on components such as pumps and check valves, and ends with an entertaining historical perspective on fluid transients.
Who should attend
This course is geared towards anyone who deals with the transportation and distribution of fluids in closed pipeline systems, as well as the design of such systems. This includes engineers, technical and project managers and controllers of pipeline systems and process installations who want to upgrade their understanding of pressure transients.
The content is suited for those whose business or professional interests involve the course subjects, as well as researchers and inventors, who are constantly searching for new ideas to help improve components and processes. A degree in engineering, engineering science, physics, or other scientific discipline is recommended.
Enrolment, fee and registration
The registration fee is € 1,125.-- for two days (50% discount for students). The course fee includes course documentation, lunches and refreshments during the breaks. The fee does not include VAT.
International participants from within the European Union are charged 0% VAT only when they provide their organizations VAT number. Participants from outside the European Union are exempt from VAT, hence 0% VAT will be charged. Please use the electronic form on this website for registration.
